[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Hard disk recall????!?!?!?!

allon@eng.umd.edu (Allon Stern) (03/23/90)

A few days back, I posted to the net problems that I was having with my
40 meg HD (Seagate) on my Mac II. Since then, I got one reply telling
me that Apple has "quietly" recalled the Seagate 40's, and was wondering
if this is true? I'm wondering if the person who sent me the message
meant QUANTUM, even though I made it clear that it was a Seagate, not Quantum.
I haven't seen anything about problems with Seagates in comp.sys.mac.hardware
or comp.sys.mac, so I'm wondering.... Can anybody (at apple, maybe?) confirm
if this is true? Thanks.

This is a test of the emergency signature system. Were this an actual
signature, you would see amusing mottos, disclaimers, a zillion net
addresses, or edifying philisophical statements. This is only a test.

The article to which I am responding is from a fellow who was told his Seagate
drive may have been recalled, to which his response was, "This is a Seagate,
not a Quantum." Having recently decided to buy a Microtech Nova 40 HD (based
on the Quantum P40S), and never having heard a thing about Quantum recalls,
I am naturally quite concerned. PLEASE, if ANYONE knows about Quantums being
recalled and why, or if anyone has ANY reasons why I should cancel my purchase
(which will, all things remaining the same, go into effect on MONDAY 3/26),

PLEASE

send me this information as soon as possible. Thank you!
