[comp.sys.mac.hardware] DataDesk 101 ADB woes

mjkobb@mit-amt.MEDIA.MIT.EDU (Michael J Kobb) (03/24/90)

Greetings again,

I've got a DataDesk 101 ADB for my IIx, and I'm really getting annoyed with
the thing. It's under warranty, so I'd appreciate it if folks would tell me
if this is standard behavior for this keyboard, or what:

o The shift key doesn't seem to register sometimes, so I have to release it
and hit it again.

o The Command and Option keys really don't like to register together, so if
you want to do something (like Cmd-Opt-m in Word 4.0, you have to press them
one at a time).

The only thing I can figure is that the design is totally braindead, or it
scans the keys too slowly, or it's busted.

o I'm also more than a little bit annoyed by the Option-on-one-side,
command-on-the-other layout that they picked.

I had the shift problems with my old DataDesk for my Plus, but the Cmd-Option
thing is all-new.

Do people who have these keyboards notice the same faults, or is mine broken?

So, let's say I wanted to buy an Apple Extended keyboard (with a 1-year
warranty!!!!!! :-)). Are there any macro software packages comparable to
MasterStrokes in quality and funcionality (like, I want to map the function
keys so that they DO something)?

Thanks,
--Mike

Has anybody had any experiences with the Keytronic
ADB keyboard for the Macintosh? Mail me, and I'll
summarize.
