[comp.sys.mac.hardware] 24-bit cards for Apple RGB

demarsee@gamera.cns.syr.edu (Darryl E. Marsee) (04/10/90)

What 24-bit cards are available that work with Apple's Hi-Res RGB Monitor?
Obviously, the Apple 8-24 [GC] qualifies, and I believe the SuperMac
ColorCard/24 also does. Are there any others? Has anyone a recommendation
or preference for a particular card?

Greetings,

Just a quick word of praise for SuperMac's Colorcard/24. I've had mine
since December, when I bought it instead of the RasterOps. I've not regretted
that decision at all. Among the nifty features this card has:

It supports a large virtual desktop (on the order of 1024x760), with really
fast hardware scroll.

It supports 2x zoom, with scrolling.

The accelerator clips straight to the card, so you don't have to deal with
NuBus at all for transfers from the accelerator to the card.

The only thing it doesn't do is the nifty startup screen the RasterOps board
does, but I'll cope. :-) (P.S. Supermac, if you're listening, how about
putting the nifty picture on the cover of your manual into a startup screen,
eh?)
