[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Multisync monitors & the new Apple video cards

milo@ndmath.UUCP (Greg Corson) (04/12/90)

In Apple's press releases they indicate that all their new video cards adapt
to the type of apple monitor you are using from color up to the 2-page mono
unit. What I'm wondering is, what if you have a multisync monitor? How
do the apple cards determine screen size and would using a multisync
monitor mess them up in any way?

If it was possible, it would be nice to have a larger color multisync that
could be operated as a 2-page display in high-res mode or taken down to
the resolution of a standard Apple color monitor when 24 bit color was needed.

My question is, can the Apple cards do this? Is there some control panel
gadget that could be used to set/control resolution for a multisync monitor?
Can a multisync monitor be used at all? Would the card's "automatic monitor
configuration" stuff be messed up by one?

I hope someone out there can help.
