Does anyone know of an inexpensive place to purchase replacement ink cartridges for the HP Deskwriter? The cheapest I have seen locally (I would love to find a nice local place if possible for you Bay Area Responders) is $19 at Computer- ware. It seems someone should be discounting these crazy things from the retail price which I think is $19 too. BTW, I have heard of people refilling their cartridges with other ink which is in fact water fast, however, I am not interested since HP does not recommend it. It seems to be that using anything other than HP's ink might cause prob- lems since ink jet nozzles are pretty sensitive things. With the wrong ink, it might get clogged. Again, I would love to be corrected. Again, I ask the HP people out there, is it okay to use heavier than 24 lb. paper with the Deskwriter? Thanks in advance. ---Derek Fong fong@cive.stanford.edu thewho@portia.stanford.edu

While I don't pour over advertisements, I did notice recently while looking for the cheapest place for another product (SuperLaserSpool 2.02 so I can spool print files on my DeskWriter--can't wait for it to come) that MAC Express sells DESKJET/DESKWRITER BLK CARTRIDGEs for $15. (UPS Ground shipping free in the continental U.S.) [They have an ad in the May MacUser.] While I did order SuperLaserSpool from them, I haven't received it and can't comment on their service. So my disclaimer is that I'm not even a satisfied customer of this outfit yet, though I certainly hope to be. :-) MAC Express 1-800-222-2808 Scott D.
