The drive in my CMS hard disk gave out recently. It was a 40M Seagate ST251. I replaced it with a ST171, a 49M, 28ms drive. I used the CMS formatting utility which came with the original drive and everything works. QUESTION: Did the old utility get the interleave factor and whatever other parameters there may be correct for optimum performance? I believe the only relevent differences are the size (40M vs 46M, formatted) and speed (38ms vs 28ms). Thanks for any help. Byron Weber Becker bwbecker@watdragon.waterloo.edu
