[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Apple Fileservers

cbouscho@umn-d-ub.D.UMN.EDU (Charles Bouschor II) (05/25/90)

I need the opinions of the netters.

WE are in the process of putting up a apple fileserver in a pure apple
appletalk environment. Everything I have heard says to stick with the
basic Mac, External hard drive and a backup system.
\
My question is what Mac?(Mid range price)
What kind of 40Meg Hard drive?
What kind of fileshare software (default will be appleshare)
What kind of backup utility?

On the backup utility, I would like it to wake up and perform a backup
at midnight, or in the wee hours of the morning. I currently have a
syquest 42 meg that I would like to backup to for the convience of
mounting it as another volume when need be. What software will do
this while appleshare is running?

Please email me below, and I will summarize if there is interest.

Thanks for your help
