A friend of mine is considering buying a used SE/30 (4M RAM, 80M HD - standard Apple configuration). He is concerned about the unreliable Quantum drives in older Macs. Did this problem affect SE/30s? How can he find out if this is an affected machine (e.g., date of manufacture, serial number?) I believe Apple had a free repair for this (a replacement ROM in the controller) - right?
