[comp.sys.mac.hardware] LaCie hard drives

A couple of months ago I requested information concerning LaCie
and their hard drives. I have since purchased a 40 Meg Quantum
ZFP (zero footprint drive) from them.

The two people I talked with on the phone were helpful and knowledgable.
I mentioned the recent Silverlining survey to one of them and she
was very interested in the results and what problems people had.
From their answers to my questions, they both obviously knew what
they were talking about.

When I ordered the drive, they gave me a delivery time of 7 to 14
days, which was acceptable to me. It actually arrived in 6 days. I
was allowed to order COD at no extra charge, which seemed like a good
idea considering some people's experience with Jasmine.

I have had no problems with either the drive or with Silverlining. The
drive is reasonably quiet and very fast. I have not partitioned my
drive (at 40 Megs there doesn't seem much point yet) but otherwise
Silverlining is working fine. The drive also comes with a good collection
of public domain and shareware programs, including virus detection software
and other good file maintenance utilities.

I have no other connection with LaCie than as a satisfied customer.
