[comp.sys.mac.hardware] MacAvenue disks

hunter@oakhill.UUCP (Hunter Scales) (07/06/90)

Has anyone got one of the new MacAvenue disks. Macuser adds
shows 100 Mbytes for ~$700, external. This is a super deal!
Question is, are the drives worth a damn?

Hiya,

Most of the MacAvenue drives have 25ms access. The probably use
Connor internals or a slow Quantum. Considering that you can get a
12ms Quantum external for $699 from several places, I do not think the
MacAvenue drive is a good deal.

Since you are in Austin, there are a couple of places there to
get good deals. MacClub for one. I would shop around. Pick up an issue
of MacWeek, then you will see what prices should be like.
