[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Apple's pricing is being silly..again

gross@umiami.miami.edu (JD144) (07/16/90)

Seems someone at Apple is being rather dim. These new Personal LW's seem
nice, but right under their announcement in MacWeek is an article about
QMS's new laser printer...

The new QMS-PS 410 comes with PostScript, HP PCL 4 (only get PCL 3 on
the PLW NT), a 16MHz 68020 (compared to a 12MHz 68000 on the PLW NT),
simutaneous connectivity between the AppleTalk, RS-232, and Centronics
ports, 2 MB of RAM (upgradable to 6, Apple wins here :) ), 45 built-in
fonts, ATM font-scaling built-in, ability to upgrade to PS 2 when it's ready,
and 6 pounds less than the PLW NT. All for $2795.

Seems Apple has decided that, once again, because they can put that little
multi-colored logo on something that they get to charge premium prices.

Now if we can only get this kind of competition on the Macs themselves, we
might just get some really low-priced stuff. :)
