I need a quick and dirty solution to the following problem. I just installed a Magnum workstation at a small company. I have used the one available serial port for a modem and the one expansion slot holds the color card. The have a Mac SE and a laserwriter on Appletalk. I would like to be able to print on that laserwriter from the MIPs. Dayna communications makes a neat box called Etherprint, a device with ethernet on one side and appletalk on the other. List cost is $499 (call 801/531-0203 for more info). This is probably just what the doctor ordered, however, when I said "do you support Unix" they said, "Unix, never heard of it". Apparently they only support ethernetted dos machines. Has anyone encountered this problem before? If there were only one more serial port. A fastpath really seems like total overkill in this situation. Please email responses, I will be happy to summarize. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew Simms ams@acm.princeton.edu System Administrator Program in Applied and Computational Math Princeton University Princeton, NJ 08544 609/258-5324 or 609/258-6227 609/258-1054 (fax)
