I am trying to connect our Mac+ with the MicroVax computer. On the Mac there is a modem plug with 8 pin connector; on the MicroVax there is a 25 pin RS232 connector. I have a cable from Mac which convert the 8 pin to DB9 connector. However, I have trouble to connect the DB9 to our MicrVax computer. In the Mac manual, it has the followings pin 1 handshake pin 2 handshake pin 3 transmit - pin 4 grd pin 5 receive - pin 6 transmit + pin 7 no connection pin 8 receive + How should I connect this? Since I don't read this newsgroup too often, please mail the answer to me directly. philip@image.me.utoronto.ca

philip@image.me.utoronto.ca (Philip Cheng AWN) asks about connecting
a Mac to a Microvax.
You might find the simplest solution will be to get two cables: a
"Mac to Hayes Modem" cable with the correct Mac-side pins, and a
"null Modem cable" to connect the 25-pin side of the Hayes-Mac
cable to the Microvax.
You can get null modem cables at many computer periferal stores.
I think the Dec part number is BC22-A. Unfortunately, I left
my Microvax at the office.
