[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Disk boot problem

roderis@ure.CS.ORST.EDU (RODERICK) (08/05/90)

I am having trouble with my hard disk. About once a week it
disappears. I get the "?" MAC at startup. I then have to boot
with a floppy disk, go to the control Panel (with COMMAND-OPTION-
SHIFT) to reset the PRAM. And finally (get this) shut down, UNPLUG
my MAC and press the Power On button. This seems to discharge the
CMOS?! Then I can reboot and my hard disk is there.

I have an original MAC II with a CMS Pro 60-i.
		PLEASE HELP!!!!

	Thank Ya - Thank Ya!

I have the same original Mac II/CMS Pro 60-i combo and experienced the same problem. The solution is to install InitPRAMfix (I think from Apple) in your system folder or use the latest version of the System ( >6.0). Do not do both.
