[comp.sys.mac.hardware] The Extended Warranty

bjb@pyramid.com (Bruce Beare) (08/17/90)

My CD-Rom player (apple CD-SC) failed a few weeks ago. I took it in to
have it upgraded (this was discussed here some months ago). After having a
rather hard time convincing the ComputerLand store that there WAS a warranty
extension, they replaced the mechanism and returned the drive to me at no
charge.

They did NOT, however, disconnect the fan. Did they blow it? Should I go
back and insist that it be disconnected?

They blew it. There was, I think, some sort of tech announcement from Apple,
to make the whole deal official. Maybe someone here can enlighten you.

I noticed, after the fan thing became known, that Apple started shipping CD
players with a big sticker on the side saying "NO FAN."
