Hi, I have an SE/30 at work which is currently connected to our company's ethernet via AppleTalk, a Shiva NetBridge, and a Shiva (formerly Kinetics) FastPath 4 gateway. The performance fairly sucks in this configuration. Our Mac IIs which are directly connected get about 30 - 60 kbytes/s transfer rate during FTPs (for example), and I only get about 2 - 3 kbytes/s via my AppleTalk connection and the bridges. I'm investigating getting some kind of direct ethernet connection for my SE/30. Understand they come in two flavors: a card that goes into the case, and one which connects via the SCSI port. Another thing I'd like to be able to do is to print to the LaserWriter via AppleTalk which it's directly connected. If you give a recommendation, please tell me if you can have both the AppleTalk and ethernet connections active at the same time. Reply by e-mail, and I'll post a summary after I get enough replies (or I time out). Cheers, Eric Eric Goodill, goodill_eric@tandem.com "Sucks Syntax" -- John Haskey
