Ok here's the situation, Mac SE, 2.5 megs of memory, two superdrives, and it's the SE with "Superdrive" stamped on the case. This Mac just got back from a repair at the shop...it thought it had an external 400K drive attached and couldn't read the phantom disk. The logic board was swapped out for a new one...that should take care of any hardware problems...right? Today we reinstalled the mac and tried printing from it. You can print without spooling, but when print monitor is installed the files spool to the spool folder, but don't print. The print monitor will output the spooled files out to the printer at most once after each startup, and then silently stops working. This problem is 100% repeatable. Now it's not an init conflict, because this mac has the exact same system folder configuration as every other mac on our 12 mac network. Further, I've tried reinstalling the system several times, to no avail. This sounds like a software problem, but nothing I've done to massage the machine in software seems to have had any effect...and I've tried everything. Is there anything I'm missing? Has anybody else seen this problem? Could this be a hardware problem, even after they swapped in a new board? I've run out of explanations...the last owner of this mac in the office said it was prone to mysterious problems..I'm beginning to believe it's possessed. And yes...I'm using multifinder. -- Andy andym@crash.cts.com andym@inrisd.uucp (route via trout.nosc.mil through nosc.mil)
