[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Dove Marathon 030

steffo@gmdzi.UUCP (Stefan Weber) (07/17/90)

Does anybody has some experience with 'Dove Marathon 030'($ 449) ? My current
system is a MAC SE 20 meg HD and 2.5 meg RAM. Will I need additional memory
(or other additions)? Are there any performance test? Are there problems with
AU/X 2.0?

Thanx in advance.

steffo!

Can anybody tell me about their experience with the Dove Marathon 030 for
Are there any software incompabilities? I know about disk formatting and

the Mac Plus. Is it a lot faster? Is it worth the price (I believe $445).
Please e-mail, and if worthwile I will post a summary.

Thanks in advance,

I have one in my plus with 4mb of memory and an st296n seagate (80mb) drive,
and am quite happy with it. There are two things that I have found that do
not run, and one minor annoyance. TypeAlign does not run, and there is not
yet an init to make the sound system operational. The irritant is that you
cannot format new disks all the time. I use Init to disable the card, format
a bunch and reinstall it. Messy but it works. As for the 030, I'd recommend
it. I have far too many toys to buy to pour my life savings into an FX. :)

Could someone tell me if Dove was really planning to bundle
Virtual with its Marathon 030 boards, or was this just a
silly rumor?

I have a Plus, and was planning on getting a Marathon 030
board in the near future. Does the board have a RAM cache?
Do you have to add fast RAM to it? Any troubles with
installation?

E-mail is fine, I'll post a summary if I get good replies.
