Does this mean it will send and/or receive Half Tone (aka grayscale) faxes
as well? Our Canon FAX machine has a button that allows one to send half
tones (though nothing in the documentation says HOW MANY half tones). The
resulting fax (when sent to another Half Tone equipped FAX) is much much
better than the usual (1-bit) FAX for pictures.

However, we're currently using FaxGate for QuickMail, and I was unsuccessful
in sending a Half Tone FAX when trying to print a grayscale image through
the Fax Gateway (with an AppleFAX Modem) to our Canon FAX machine.

Solutions (maker of BackFAX and FaxGate) doesn't really know much about
Half Tones (in fact, the people I spoke with didn't even know their FAX
machine could do it until I sent them a sample from my FAX machine).

So, there is probably a limitation in the FaxGate software, but is there
also a limitation in Macintosh FAX Modems? Does the AppleFAX do Half Tone?
Does the Abaton InterFAX? Does the DoveFAX? Does any FAX Modem? Is Half
Tone even a part of the Group II/III specification? Perhaps it's a Canon
exclusive, though I doubt it. Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve
