doug@vertigo.UUCP (Doug Girling) (02/12/86)

The loss of the space shuttle "Challenger" has put the future of
the entire space shuttle system in jeopardy. Noted science
fiction author C.J. Cherryh ("Downbelow Station", "Pride of
Chanur") is writing an open letter to the American people in
support of the CIVILIAN space program. This letter will be run
as a full-page advertisment in the New York Times.

To accomplish this requires U.S. $36,000 which is being raised
by private subscription. People or organizations contributing
1% or more of the total amount will have their name listed as a
co-signator. Contributions may be mailed to:

		C.J. Cherryh
