Hi, There is an add by Texas MacExpress in the September issue of MacUser. It advertizes a $69 2400 Baud Hayes compatible modem, an ugly black box, but cheap! On the reverse page, MacProducts USA seems to be advertizing the same product for $85. And in both cases it comes with a two year warranty. The $69 deal is very attractive, and I would like to know if anyone out there has any experience with one of these modems. Please email me directly and I will post a summary of pros and cons that I get. Thanks, Bertrand Limoges

I got two of them, one from Texas for $69. Seem fine. I'm now using a Teleport ADB modem, which was free but would cost you $150. Works fine with applications; doesn't seem to with DAs. It saves you a serial port. The Zooms were for friends; I use two Practical Peripherals, which have great 5-year warranties, but no longer count as cheap.
