[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Connecting the ImageWriter I to SE/30

xzoy@vax5.cit.cornell.edu (08/17/90)

Please accept my apologies for giving the incorrect cable for attaching
the ImageWriter I to the more modern Macs. (the price sheet we use at
my place of work was wrong) I do have it straightend out, though, but
it might be cheaper to just make your cable, now. You can use the M0199
cable as I had suggested, but Apple expects that you already have and
also use the M0150 cable which (they say) should have come with the
ImageWriter I printer. You can then use both cables together to get
a functioning connection. The price on the M0150 is a more pricey list
price of $50. Sorry for the confusion. I didn't have a cable around to
look at.In fact, I still don't have any cables, but I do have it on
good authority that this will work.

Well, they cheap old way to connect a modem to a Mac was to use an
ImageWriter I cable; so maybe you should try a modem cable, which
can be as little as $6.

A modem cable will not work unless you use an appropriate "null modem"
adapter as well.

Apple sells an 8 pin din to 9 pin db25 cable that will let your imagewriter i
attach via the old imagewriter i cable.

SE/30 --adapter cable-- imagewriter i cable -- imagewriter.
