Hi - hope this post attempt works... I am looking for advice in purchasing a hard drive for the Macintosh. This drive will primarily be used on a Mac SE, but may need to travel to work and run with a IIci. My primary criteria are: - Speed (Access time AND real-life performance) - Reliability (both warranty and quality - does it NEED its warranty? does it crash a lot?) - Size: Roughly 40M - 80M range - Price: I am willing to spend more for a better drive (to an extent) - Bundled software: I am not really interested in the free/shareware that is sometimes packaged with the drive, nor am I interested in whether they include SUM II (I already own it). However, I AM interested in the formatting & drive utilities and, to a lesser extent, in bundled partitioning/spooling/backup software. Also, I am interested in hearing about any experience people have had with Jasmine now that they have been bought up by Chess. Is the new management reliable? How about the tech. support and repair/replacement policy? Jasmine was rated as manufacturing one of the most reliable drives before they went under - does this still hold true under the new management? Please respond via E-mail to the address below - I do read this group, but my NEWS system is rather flaky, so I'd rather not miss your responses. If there's enough interest, I'll summarize.
