Netters, Help! My 2 year old Apple high resolution color monitor (really a Sony Trinitron monitor) on a MAC-II is acting crazy (:-) SYMPTOMS: When first started (cold) it seems to work ok.Then after about 15-20 minutes it turns itself off. The green power light is turned off and so the screen is. The power supply seems to work ok, producing the indicated voltages of +67 V and +120 V. Both unloaded or under load. The +15 V return line (I guess the one that signals the power supply that everything is ok) is at first ok. At the time the Monitor dies, it drops to -0.5 V (approximately) and stays there. If you turn the monitor power switch off and then on again, it will momentarily turn on, stay on for a few seconds and then die again. If you wait a few minutes and repeat this, it will stay on again for more time. And now the bad news. The University repair center here, wants $50 just to look at it. And an estimated amount of $200-300 to fix it. Before I make them rich, does anyone have any suggestions, or have experienced a similar problem? Any clues, or even any pointers to books that might help? I have some experience with monitors, but there is nothing much I can do without schematics. Thanks much! --mt (Manolis Tsangaris) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Respond to me if you prefere and I will summarize to the Net.
