A while ago there was a thread here about noisy Quantum drives in the Mac IIcx and IIci. The general description of the problem was loud seek-type noises occurring when the drive was inactive. It was speculated that this was a result of the 'stiction' fix. Well, I called Storage Dimensions, the supplier of my Q105, and they told me to just ship it back for an exchange. I won't get into the tale of woe that resulted from the fact that I've relocated since I purchased the drive, but, once it finally arrived, it has functioned perfectly. So, all you noisy Quantum sufferers, see if you can get the mfrs. to swap your drives out, 'cause that cured the problem for me. Of course, we *still* don't know the cause of the problem... Ken Weiss
