Just (about six weeks ago) bought a DeskWriter. Considered the DeskJet, but
the interfacing problem didn't look like an easy one, although there are
several third party software packages available. I ended up using Adobe Type
Manager for 99% of my printing, and the results (in Best mode) are almost
worth bragging about. The darn thing does Quickdraw images
great, including halftones out of Pagemaker. I have Freedom of Press, but
have yet to use it because most of my work does not come out in PostScript
format. DeskWriter carts. are refillable, check out the article in the DTP
forum. I use a LaserWriter NT at work, and the output is a little crisper
and darker, but for the money, you can't beat the DeskWriter for ease of
installation and use. By the way, it does business size envelopes easily and
well. I'd be happy to answer any more questions, just ask via this BBS.
