I would like to thank all the people who seemed to know what the problem with the Mac II monitors is (the high voltage cutoff capacitor). That information will most likely come in quite handy come "dealer" time. Thanks for the summary, Manolis! Also, thanks Bill for the "wierd monitor fix". It seems to be doing the trick (I wish I had known about it a couple of days earlier, having tried a good couple of hours to get the thing to turn on!) !!!
