[comp.sys.mac.hardware] CD-ROM system crashes

JAYMS@CUNYVM (09/29/90)

I have a IIci with a CD-Technologies Porta-drive CD-ROM drive. It works
fine except that it prevents the system from starting up when a CD-ROM is
left ejected, but in the drive. SCSI termination is proper with one terminator
on the CD-ROM which is at the end of the chain.

This is very inconvient, especially for system restarts. The CD-ROM disc
must be pulled completely out of the drive for the system not to halt on
startup. CD-Technologies customer support wasn't much help. Anyone have
similar problems or have any suggestions for fixing this? Thanks in advance
for any replies!

Would appreciate direct replies.

I also have a CD-Tech. CD-Rom drive and IIci, but I have never experienced this problem. The drive will eject the cartriage half-way when you eject it. Then if you left it in, it will be re-loaded when the computer starts up. I don't know what exactly is going wrong in your combination. Could there be something wrong in your CD-ROM, like Apple's first press of 'Discy Business' ?
