Recently I had the rather entertaining experience of watching my mac go
up in smoke...the right side of the picture scrunched up while the left
side stretched. I watched in morbid fascination as it went further and
further until, with a nice pop, smoke came pouring out the top. Smelled
kind of like burnt popcorn.
Now, presumably this is a known failure mode (by now I guess they all
are), so does anybody know what needs fixing? I'd rather switch in a new
part than send it off for costly repair.
On a similar subject, does anybody have information regarding plans for
putting your mac motherboard in a new case with a nice hefty, reliable
power supply and external monitor? Does anybody sell kits? This is my
second power supply to go and I'd rather not lose another...
And, lastly (for a complete shot in the dark), does anybody out there
have a driver for an Apple /// serial card? I'll trade you parallel
drivers...
Thanks for any and all help....
