Don't expect the new low-cost Macs before the late fall. Actually they probably will not be available until the end of the year. The new Macs should be released with system 7.0, and concurrently with the new Apple II. Probably all in January... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Email: tjones@hell.utah.edu Login Name: Thouis Jones In Real Life: tjones My opinions are my own, but then again, no one else wants them.

Hi, My apologies if this has already been posted, but our news server died right after my first attempt. I am not a regular reader of this newsgroup, but I need some information that from the discussions that are going on I could have found out last week. But alas our news only lives for a week, and is then sent into never, never land. It's just danged irritating when work has to come before reading the news! I have finally decided to purchase a Mac and had pretty much settled on the SE. Mainly for price reasons. However, I understand that 3 new low-end Macs will be coming out soon. Could someone please e-mail me more info about these Macs. I am interested in what they can do, what their insides look like, how much they cost, and about when they would be available. Thanks in advance, Deanna Rankin DRANKIN@NMSU.EDU

The previous posting on this subject was incorrect. The SE will continue if for only a limited time. The fate of that machine will be determined by the market. The Classic does not have an expansion slot, therefore it does not take the place of the SE. The cx is discontinued. This should be obvious now that it costs the same as the ci. This was an intentional move by apple to get rid of the cx without people yelling about it.
