Recently, I have been having some problems with the SuperDrive on my SE. The drive is less than one year old, but it has been eating disks left and right. It seems to do it on one particular occasion. If I insert a 800K disk and chose Erase Disk from the special menu, it ejects the disk saying that the initialization failed!! Any advice out there as to what is wrong? Thanks in advance and please e-mail. Joe jwagner@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu "Life is divided into the horrible and the miserable." - Woody Allen

I've been having the exact same problem with the FDHD drive in my Mac SE/30, purchased December 1989. Disks, both 800K and 1400K, fail randomly and fairly often, too. I'd really like to hear what someone at Apple has to say about this.
