I hope this is the right place to post this. I was reading news this evening on my mac, when all of a sudden, I got a system error. When I tried to reboot, I got the following "sad mac" error: 00000004 00000100 This repeated itself each time I tried to boot (or cycle the machine on/off). Eventually, I just let it sit for a while, and turned it on again and now its seems to be working. I assume that this is a flaky memory chip (based on no information than that's what it was last time). Here's my question: I don't want to take this to some expensive dealer for repair. Can I do it myself? Is the error message enough to diagnose the problem and replace the appropriate chip? Its a Mac SE with a 20 MB built in disk. PLease reply by mail, I don't read this group. Thanks, larry kolodney lkk@altdorf.ai.mit.edu lkk@eddie.mit.edu
