Hey there, folks. I'm interested in upgrading my LW II NT to an NTX. Now as I've always understood it, that's simply a matter of pulling out the old controller card and popping in the NTX board. Right? I called a local dealer and he told me that besides the controller card, "the ROM in the printer has to be upgraded." I found that a little confusing, since I always assumed that the ROM for the printer was on the controller card, and that any ROM differences would already be installed on the NTX controller card as standard. Is there anything else besides the actual controller card that has to be upgraded in order to convert the printer to an NTX? Also, how much memory does the NTX controller card ship with? Is it the same amount that comes on a stock NTX? Also, does the NTX board take normal $50 SIMMs? And is upgrading the memory just a matter of popping them in as one would do in upgrading a mac? Thanks in advance. Please email responses and I'll summarize of appropriate. -- Gabe Wiener - Columbia Univ.
