[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Making Mac II batteries replaceable

tph@cs.utexas.edu (Pow-Hwee Tan) (10/30/90)

This has probably been asked before. How can I change the
soldered battery on my Mac II to one which is replaceable,
ie. put in a battery socket like those I see in the
motherboards of the newest Macs?

I remember when the Mac II first came out, I was told that
the battery will last for 7 years. However, a local
Mac service man told me that a lithium battery typically last
about three years.

Heck, even the Mac 128K can have its battery easily replaced
by pulling out a small battery compartment behind.
