A friend asked me to seek others' experience and comments on the 8-24.
He has an fx running 6.0.5 with 8Meg memory and tons of disk space.
His experience has been that Word and Excel fly with the accelerator
turned on.
However, of much more interest than applications which have Find
functions anyway is the performance of graphics applications.
Illustrator and FreeHand average about 15% improvement. MacDraw on
the other runs at about half the speed *with* the accelerator as it
does without.
Summary: very underwhelming. Does anyone else have comments on
performance they've seen, or suggestions as to what might be going
wrong on his system? Please e-mail responses, since I don't usually
