They can be either used "inline" with the SCSI cable or in the 2nd SCSI port. Apple's SCSI documentation says to do it the first way but the tech support folks on the developer hotline say to do it the other. I find it usually works either way, but it pays to experiment if you are having trouble. In any event, The 10/15 developer price list from Apple shows part number M0332LL/A, Apple SCSI Cable Terminator, with a suggested retail price of $30. This implies your dealer should have them or be able to order one for you. This is the original gray terminator, not for use with the IIfx. These machines come with a black terminator that should be used instead. The black terminator is not on the price list. I don't know what terminator the newest machines (IIsi, et al) require. You can also get the gray terminator as part of the SCSI cabling if you buy an Apple SCSI peripheral such as a hard disk, tape drive, or CD-ROM drive, as these do not contain internal termination.
