(Hmmmmm...I think I got a bit of a weird subject...sorry) In any case, re how to subscribe to AvWeek: Get the subscription card out of one of them from a library and send it in. Or telephone. If you are on this net, you probably qualify for the "good ole boy" rate. Computer related stuff is considered to be the right kind of job to get a discount. Re what happens if one SRB lights and the other does not? The same as any other SRB failure: SOL. Or DOA depending on which initials you prefer. Re what is the deal about whether the grain protects the casing or what: See last week's AvWeek (Feb 10, I think). That appears to be unfounded speculation, since in some of the segments, the propellent burns partially from the bottom up, as well as from the outside in. That is all part of how they tailor the thrust curve. It would appear that some of the casing is exposed to the hot gasses quite soon after ignition. (I think there is some insulation between the propellant and the steel, though. See AvWeek.) Finally: AvWeek is a nice present to hint for if your birthday is coming up and you have a significant other, inlaws, etc who are totally at a loss! Burns ...decwrl!rhea!star!fisher
