[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Mail-ordering from APS

The following is a response I sent to Jeff Kuskin that bounced but might also
be of interest to others:

No problem at all, which actually makes sense since all the drive is is just a
stock Quantum pro40. Silverlining is very good since it works on so many
different drives. I have also used it to format old 20Meg miniscribe drives
taken from macs that have been upgraded to 105 quantums.

Also remember. The driver that silverlining installs is a standard SCSI type
interface so as far as utilities go, it the driver works, the utilities should
all work.

I have had no problem so far. I think that the only way I would ever have a
problem is if the disk were a 40 M quantum taken from a mac since Quantum puts
different roms into the drives it sells to apple.

If you have any questions, also try phoning LaCie's tech support and ask them
what other kind of drives you can use it on. (their marketing might not tell
you but the tech support would :-) :-).
