[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Mac IIsi questions

so@duke.cs.duke.edu (Steve Owen) (11/02/90)

I have a couple of questions about the IIsi:

1. Where is the programmers switch? Seems to me there isn't one.
What do I do if I need to break out to a debugger?

2. Anyone know what the specs are the the 80MB hard drive Apple uses?
Like seek time and mean time to failure?

Thanks,
Steve

	No programmer's switch - instead there's a "magic key
sequence" that Apple claims will work through the worst crashes.

	<chuckle>

(No, I don't know the sequence offhand. Wait till I get my IIsi)

Well, I've only been able (so far :-) to use the "reset" key sequence, and
it seems to work. "Control-Command-Power" resets the box when it's hung
(it really works!). The "Programmer's Interrupt" is supposed to be
either Command-Power or Control-Power, I don't remember which.

Anyway, all-in-all, I'm real pleased with my IIsi!

Good Luck 8^(

Apple is half right 8^(

It's supposed to be Command-Power, but that doesn't matter because it
doesn't work anyway. As reported in MacWeek and as tried in several dealers,
after my IIsi didn't have it. I use an Fkey to get to the debugger, but
that doesn't work through a freeze.

I'm pleased too, but so far there has been a massive non-response from
Apple to this particular question on every bulletin board where I've seen
the question asked.

My si works great regarding the reset. Command-Control-Power is the sequence. It's worked through every crash I've had (which is not many - a great relief).

Cheers!
