Someone on the net theororized that the delay of the Mac LC was due to the possible use of the 68025 instead of the 68020. Natta! The delay of the Mac LC until January is due to the delay in getting the FCC approval for the machine since they redid the video very late in the game (from 4 bit to 8 bit color at 512x384). _______________________________________________________________________________ Matt Curfman Technovelty. Natta! > ^^^^^ > The reason for the LC delay is that it started production later than the IIsi. Nothing more, nothing less (about a month's difference). Also the LC's not made in the US, so getting out takes a little longer--shipping time and getting-through-customs time may add a week vs the US-made IIsi. It DOES have FCC aproval. Dealer's should start to see the units around the 1st week of Dec (the quanity will probably be so low that they'll only be able to demo them). But, they are comming. The Jan/Feb date that people talk about is when you can EASILY get your hands on an LC; they are going to be starting to get out there in early Dec, but quanities will be limited until Jan. By the way, the IIsi NuBus adapter cards may (<< this is a schedule that MAY slip) start showing up around the 1st or 2nd week of Dec, also. The '030 adapter cards are still a little ways off. So you may start seeing the products in the begining of Dec, but don't go hounding your dealers for them now! These times are of today--they may slip. I just thought the net would be interested in some *fuzzy* schedule projections. Again (overkill?), these are NOT OFFICIAL APPLE schedules, they are only my best guesses/information. (Pardon me for not having the previous article's text; I browse through the news on a #$%*&!@ IBM Mainframe.) (Talk of delay on IIsi NuBus Adapter Cards) Well, we got our IIsi NuBus Adapter cards from Apple the middle of this week (Way to go Apple!). Of course, the close proximity of Michigan Tech to Cupertino probably had something to do with this. ;-) T.A.Amberg = Apple Student Rep == Michigan Technological University =====

Also, they redesigned for 8-bit instead of 4-bit color, which meant (a) time for redesign, which is prob. why the production started later, and (b) time to get the 8-bit version through the FCC. The color on the Mac LC looks like the color you get on a Nintendo or a Commodore 64. I wonder what a Mac II/12 RGB Monitor combination would look like. This would clear up whether it is the Mac LC or the 12 RGB Monitor that is making the color look this bad.

The resolution on the new monitor is about 64 dpi, instead of the 72 dpi we've been used to. (Also, have you seen said pictures on a II--i.e., the same ones? Maybe you're just looking at something with a lousy color scheme.) | Francis Stracke | My opinions are my own.
