If you want to understand what you're doing, read the files on sumex-aim.stanford.edu : info-mac/tips/generating-postscript.txt imagen-postscript.txt The first file tells you how to hack the dickens out of your laserwriter dialogue, to make it do practically anything you want. The second file tells you how to edit a mac laserprep file to take out the unnecessary bits of postscript that cause problems on your printer. It's a 5-minute fix, but you can't do it with kluge editors like vi, since they have a limit on line length (and a 32K lines makes vi gag). I have been using the 6.0 printing tools for the last 4 months with our imagen (i.e. 3rd-party) printers, and a suitably modified laser prep file. When you solve the problem this way, you become independent of some bozo updating his postscript kluge tool every six months (like macps or prepfix or whatever). Don W.
