My hard drive has crashed, and I am looking for the easiest way to restore it. Actually, none of the information was of major importance (which is why I have no backup,) but it would be more convenient to restore the drive rather than re-initialize it. Here is the situation: I turn on the computer, and the startup sequence seems to be operating correctly. My inits load up, the desk picture comes up, etc. Then the mac says that the disk is damaged and cannot be used as a startup volume, and restarts. While playing with it using things like Disk First Aid and others, I noticed that they all say the disk is full, which is obviously part of the problem, since it had about 20 meg free. Then came the big mistake: I accidentally (don't ask, it was my fault though) installed a driver that nothing else recognizes. Now it wont even begin the starup using the hard drive (the ? disk icon...) My question: What now? I am willing to buy a program like SUM or Norton Utilities, if it will work. A little more info: Silverlining will not install a driver because "there is no room on the disk". Arrgh. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. System: Mac IIcx, system 6.0.5, 13 montior, apple hi-res card. Hard Drive: A Quantum 120 from APS. P.S. Does anybody know the address of the guy who does Cedar Technologies? (the CDR sound digitizer)
