I have a Mac SE with two floppies, and I'd like to install an internal HD by removing the top floppy drive. Is this easy to do? Is there a SCSI connector already built in so that I can use a 40-meg drive that came with a mac II? Thanks in advance for any input, Steve Strange Cal Berkeley

There are both connectors for the SCSI and power connections built in. The Power connection is on the analog board (upright board) behind (or in front of, depending on which way you are looking) the fan. SCSI connector is on the motherboard near the back SCSI connector. The only things that you will need with your HD is a SCSI cable (50 pin ribbon), standard power cable and a mounting bracket that is designed for the Macs. The only question that I would have is: Is your 40mb a 5.25 or 3.5 - Most big macs come with 5.25, which for size reasons obviously won't work. Happy Computing -- Darrin R. However, you also have the option to INSTALL the drive. That is, you can have your cake (the HD) and eat it, too (the second floppy)! Two different mounting straegies (which both involve an extra braket) include mounting it behind the CRT and along side it (opposite from the analog board). -- ******************************************************************************* * Bill Taroli (WWTAROLI@RODAN.acs.syr.edu) | "You can and must understand * * Syracuse University, Syracuse NY | computers NOW!" -- Ted Nelson * *******************************************************************************
