[comp.sys.mac.hardware] IIfx bug fix in the works?

wirehead@oxy.edu (David J. Harr) (11/25/90)

I am going to be getting an upgrade on my Mac II to a IIfx soon (*YEAH*),
but I am worried about this memory manager bug that has been discovered in
the 512K ROMs. Sooooooo, is there going to be a bugfix implemented in ROM so
that new new machines will not have this problem, and if so, how do I make
sure that the motherboard I get when I take my machine in has the new ROMs
and not the old buggy ROMs. I am perfectly happy to wait as long as 2 or 3
months if the bugfix is due RSN. I think it would be worth it to make sure
that I don't have to play with some kind of INIT to patch the problem...

(For those new to the net, RSN = "Real Soon Now.")

The preceding has been another fine product from the fevered brain of

It's coming; there was mention over on c.s.m.programmer last
week of something called MMInit, from Apple, which would fix
the problem.

However, it's still a bit flaky (people running it have reported
more crashes than usual in normal use), so they're still
working on it.

I would think, though, that it is a case of "Real Soon Now,"
and not "Right after System 7." :-)
