I have some friends who have a dead hard drive on their hands. It's a 60 MB CMS external, and when they came in one morning the disk wouldn't spin, although the fan was on, so the power supply seems OK. They checked out the cable between the power supply and the disk with a voltmeter and it too seems OK. So, two questions: 1) does anyone know what the problem is? 2) my friends work at Harvard. Where would the best place for repairs be in that area? I would appreciate any help, especially any ways they can get this thing working again without swapping out the mechanism and thus lose their data. Thanks in advance. -John -- John Lawler | I'm not cynical--I'm *constantly* amazed. Apple Computer |
