[net.columbia] "The Challengers"

gm@trsvax (03/20/86)

I was in my local Waldenbooks yesterday, and I noticed in big letters:

New from the writers of the Washington Post
		     The Challengers:
The story of the crew of flight 51-L

How do they get books out that fast? Geez.

Newspaper morgues, of course.
(And its about as necrophiliac as it sounds. All major newspapers have
canned biographies of people in the news, they are updated regularly
at intervals depending upon how important the person is. They are used
so that writers need not do biographical research when writing articles,
and come in handy for obituaries.
