recent "Support Partnership Tech Notes" put out by my district Apple folks has a blurb about Mac Classic, LC, and IIsi Memory Configurations. The table's too wide to scan and post, so I'll try not to introduce any errors as I transcribe: Mac Classic Total Main Logic Memory Expansion Memory Expansion Memory Board Card Card SIMMs ====== ========== ================ ================ 1.0Mb 1Mb (built-in) empty not available 2.0Mb " 1Mb (on-board)* empty 2.5Mb " " (2) 256K SIMMs 4.0Mb " " (2) 1M SIMMs * M6361LL/A Mac Classic 1Mb Mem. Exp. Cd. Mac LC Total Main Logic Memory Expansion Memory Board SIMMs ====== ========== ================ 2Mb 2Mb (built-in) empty 4Mb " (2) 1Mb SIMMs 6Mb " (2) 2Mb SIMMs 10Mb " (2) 4Mb SIMMs Mac IIsi Total Main Logic Memory Expansion Memory Board SIMMs ====== ========== ================ 2Mb 1Mb (built-in) (4) 256K SIMMs 3Mb " (4) 512K SIMMs 5Mb " (4) 1Mb SIMMs 9Mb " (4) 2Mb SIMMs 17Mb " (4) 4Mb SIMMs Frankly, I didn't even know that 512K SIMMs and 2Mb SIMMs were widely available on the market (they may not be (-: ). Apple notes further in this memo, "256KB and 512KB SIMMs are not supported by Macintosh LC. Expansion of Macintosh Classic past 1Mb requires M6361LL/A Expansion Card. The minimum recommended DRAM SIMM access time is 100ns. Fast page mode SIMMs are not required." Ted Morris giving up on cutesy .sigs for a while
