The November 1990 BMUG newsletter quotes a price of $599 for
BMUG members. Although I am a BMUG member, I purchased a DPI
before this newsletter came out. I was quoted a price of
$649 as an academic price, but I've seen that price advertised
(with one cartridge). I think I was quoted $74 per additional
cartridge.
Moral: It pays to join BMUG and read the newsletter.

I bought an extra cartridge for $74. Since I'm in the South Bay, I went to Milpitas to pick it up and saved on shipping charges. It was about 3 working days from placing the order to when they had it ready for pick up. The DPI folks called both work and home to track me down (I was at home that day) to let me know it was ready and even apologized that they reached me right at the beginning of rush hour, though it was no fault of theirs! That was a nice touch, since they already had my money and could've just left a message at work for me to find the following week.
