[comp.sys.mac.hardware] My IIcx is hard to power up occasionally?

Hi, there:
My IIcx is acting strangely recently for around 3 months.
Sometimes, I couldn't power it up by press the button on the
keyboards, or I have to press longer or several times in order
to power it up. Sometimes, no matter how I tried, I couldn't power
it up. If I come back later, it may be turned on with a gentle
press. Sometimes, if I shut it down after working on it for a
long period of time (5-6 hrs), I could not power it up several
minutes later. It's hard to diagnose the cause for problem because
it's not happening all the time. It may act stable for several days
and happen again for several times than normal again. I am sure the
cable and power are connect all right. But the power supply may not
right. Because I took the power supply (rear left of IIcx) off and
put it back right away when the problem occur, it solved the problem.
If it's the problem of the power supply or the connection between
IIcx and power supply, why it works OK most of the time (probably
75% of the time)?
I usually turn off power from a power surge after I shut down
the Mac. Is it a good way to do so? Will that hurt the Mac since it
has to power itself up from zero?

Your help is much appreciated.

This might not be a good idea. I have similar power up problems when I
unplug my IIcx when I out of town (It's ALWAIS on when I'm in town).

Another problem that I have which scares me is that every now and then
my IIcx will not boot from the hard disc - again, this is when I unplug
the machine for a long time (about a week). After I boot from floppy,
I have no other problems. Anyone have any ideas?
