[comp.sys.mac.hardware] IIGS vs Mac

jma@earthquake.Berkeley.EDU (James M. Alexander) (12/31/90)

Does anybody know for sure if the Apple IIGS and Macs use the same hardware.

Specifically, I would like to know whether the two "Apple Hi-res monitors"

are the same and if their desktop bus devices are mutually compatible.

Unfortunatly, the IIgs and Mac monitors are very different and cannot be
used.

As far as ADB devices (keyboards, mice, trackballs) will work, but realize
if they have any type of driver.. The driver's options will be unavailable.
IE: Kurta Graphics Tablets have a CDEV on the mac to control the scaling. ON
the IIgs, you would not be able to set those options.

You can also use pretty much ANY SCSI drive on the two machines (assuming
you reformat the drive.) and you can also use the external 3.5..
(Must be an Apple 3.5, not a UniDisk 3.5!)

Hope This helps!
